The Consortium

The AMANDA consortium consists of 8 partners from 6 different European countries: Belgium, Croatia, Greece, The Netherlands, Switzerland, UK. It is formed by a well-balanced group of research institutes, SMEs and industrial companies with members being selected due to their considerable expertise in the implementation of EU-funded projects of similar size and complexity.

Centre for Research and Technology Hellas - CERTH

The Centre for Research and Technology-Hellas (CERTH) is the only research centre in Northern Greece and one of the largest in the country. CERTH has important scientific and technological achievements in many areas including: Energy, Environment, Industry, Mechatronics, Information & Communication, Transportation & Sustainable Mobility, Health, Agro-biotechnology, Smart farming, Safety & Security, as well as several cross-disciplinary scientific areas.

Today CERTH includes the following five institutes with indicated major fields of research:

Zurich University of Applied Sciences

The ZHAW Zurich University of Applied Sciences is one of the leading universities of applied sciences in Switzerland. Teaching, research, continuing education and other services are both scientifically-based and practice-oriented.

In our work in research and development, we concentrate on important societal challenges, with a particular focus on energy and social integration. With locations in Winterthur, Zurich and Wädenswil, the ZHAW is firmly integrated in the local region whilst also collaborating with international partners. There are eight Schools in the University: Applied Linguistics, Applied Psychology, Architecture, Design and Civil Engineering, Engineering, Health Professions, Life Sciences and Facility Management, Management and Law, and Social Work.


Lightricity Ltd

Lightricity team has developed the world best photovoltaic energy harvester for indoor light environments.

Under artificial light such as white LED or Fluorescent bulbs, Lightricity PV technology achieves a conversion efficiency over 35% in the lab, and over 30% in production.

Lightricity technology was originally developed from 2012 at Sharp Laboratories of Europe in Oxford.

Lightricity Ltd was founded in 2017 by the main inventors to further develop and commercialise its world-leading energy harvesting technology.



e-peas - Electronic Portable Energy Autonomous Systems

e-peas stands for Electronic Portable Energy Autonomous Systems.

The company was founded in 2014 on the conviction that the trillions of connected nodes of the IoT to be deployed in the next few years will require disruptive solutions to extend batteries life-time. Only two ways exist to reach this objective:

  • • by increasing the amount of harvested energy
  • • by drastically reducing the energy consumption of all power consuming blocs of the system.
At e-peas, we believe that new applications will ultimately be made possible by the combination of both approaches.

Relying on 15 years of research and its patented disruptive technologies, e-peas offers a portfolio of products including photovoltaic, thermoelectric, vibration, and RF harvesters interface ICs, microcontrollers and sensors solutions, all thought to be easily interfaced in order to improve system robustness and reduce your application development time.



Ilika plc

Ilika plc (LON: IKA) is a pioneer in materials innovation and has been inventing new materials for energy and electronics applications for over a decade, including in automotive, aeronautical and electronic components sectors. Global brands such as Rolls Royce and Toyota have long term collaborations with Ilika’s development teams.

By applying that heritage of patented materials invention, the company has developed ground-breaking solid state battery technology to meet the specific demands of a wide range of applications in the Internet of Things (IoT). Ilika is now licensing its battery technology IP to partners for IoT sensors for the Smart Home/Building; Medical; Automotive and Transportation sectors around the world.

Ilika is headquartered in the UK and has operations in USA, China and Japan.



Microdul AG

Microdul was founded in 1991 as a management buy out (MBO) by Faselec, a Philips subsidiary. We develop and produce customised microelectronic components. Our customers benefit from the many years of experience we have in ASIC design and in development of customised electronic modules.  

As specialists, we are used to supplying microelectronic solutions for demanding and difficult applications. We offer an extensive technology palette. Depending on the customer requirements, we can develop special processes to enable dedicated customised solutions. We offer 100% test using modern equipment also for small quantities. Penta d.o.o.

PENTA d.o.o., a croatian IT company was founded in 1990. with primary goal to position itself among the leading companies which are developing people and goods Auto ID systems. Identification is achieved through specific peripheral devices such as barcode readers, magnetic and contactless cards and label readers, fingerprint, or an ey scanners, etc.

The development process has been conducted in the direction where PENTA after years of research and advanced technology monitoring has grown into a leading system integrator providing high-quality and socially useful solutions in the area of automatic identification systems such as the time attendance and access control, e-ticketing fare systems, parking management and access control system.
